Locations for Outdoor Advertising

When advertising, it’s important to consider where you want your advertisement to be placed. After all, you don’t want to spend the time and money on creating an advertisement that no one is going to see. That is why we’ll discuss the best locations for billboards, so you can get the highest return on investment (ROI) possible.

You want to advertise in locations that will receive the highest number of impressions, which means the highest number of people who are viewing the advertisement. So, what are the best billboard advertising locations for receiving impressions? The following are excellent ideas for where you can set up billboards.

Highways

Highway locations that are particularly congested are great places to set up billboards. According to the Bureau of Transportation, drivers in the United States travel more than ten billion miles per day, many of which are on highways. The best highway locations to consider are stretches that lead in and out of major cities, since these tend to be the most high-traffic and congested areas. A driver caught in three hours of traffic on the highway will have no choice but to look at your billboard advertisement!

Airports

Airports in the United States carried 853 million passengers in 2022, per the Bureau of Transportation, which means that air travel has largely recovered as the number of passengers continues to near its 2019 pre-pandemic peak, making billboards outside airports a wonderful advertising opportunity. Since people from all over the country, not to mention all over the world, come in and out of airports in the United States, billboards outside of busy airports present an excellent opportunity to expand into new markets. Also, according to Erik Bottema, a managing director at Kinetic, airport billboards are uniquely positioned to attract senior-level executives.

Downtowns

There is perhaps no better way to gain impressions than by advertising in a city’s downtown district. Since downtowns are often a city’s main commercial district, these locations attract many people, sometimes millions each day. It’s no wonder why downtown advertisements are so popular; it’s difficult to imagine Times Square without its many billboards. While downtown billboard advertisements are an excellent way to attract locals and tourists alike, it’s important to remember that billboard spots in premium locations can be exceptionally expensive and are unlikely to be feasible for small businesses.

All in all, billboards are an excellent way to advertise your business, and there are many available locations that allow you to effectively attract future customers.
