Addiction can leave people in very low places, and it’s important to be supplied with resources during times of recovery.
Today on our Client Spotlight, we’re going to be taking a look at a business that does just that.
Background
DeKalb Open Opportunities for Recovery (The DOOR) began in 2015 as an initiative of Stand, Inc.
The business is based out of Decatur, Georgia, and provides a wealth of services that assist individuals with getting back on their feet in the wake of addictions, such as drug and alcoholism.
The parent organization, Stand, Inc., was created 1999 with the mission of sustaining communities by addressing and treating societal struggles such as homelessness, addiction, mental health, and more.
Services
Some of the services include social support activities, employment assistance, and housing support.
Social support activities are a great way for an individual to create bonds with people that have experienced similar addictions. Such activities include hiking, game and movie nights, group exercise and more.
The DOOR also provides career development assistance through helping individuals craft a resume and providing interviewing skills. This can be provided individually or in a group setting, with the option of meeting online or in-person.
When bouncing back from an addiction, there are a lot of aspects that people have to juggle in order to get their lives back on track. For instance, some individuals may be struggling to find a warm place to call home. To ease the stress surrounding all of this, the DOOR offers housing support services.
Check out their page here for even more overview of the various services that are provided. The page also features a calendar of weekly events. Go to their inquiry page for the first step in finding ways that the DOOR can help you.
