Billboards for Local Advertisers

Billboards, both traditional and digital, remain effective modes of advertising in the 21st century. They are large and distinct, which may be why they are sometimes considered an expensive advertising medium and are often associated with large national corporations. However, local advertisers invest in billboard advertising more, as 7 out of 10 billboard ads promote local businesses.

Impressions

One major benefit of billboards is that they can’t be skipped, turned off, or blocked. Given their large size, visual distinctiveness, and their placement in optimal locations, they’re even difficult for most consumers to ignore. In fact, 96% of consumers are exposed to outdoor ads, and 71% of consumers see outdoor ads regularly. And since billboard advertising isn’t targeted toward specific demographics in the same way as digital ads, billboard ads reach a wider and more diverse audience than most other advertising media. Billboard advertising also gives credibility to your brand. Consumers perceive traditional advertising as being more trustworthy than non-traditional advertising, with billboards having the highest level of trust among consumers at 82%, followed by television advertising (80%) and direct mail advertising (76%).

Cost

The most important factor to consider when buying advertising is cost efficiency. You want to spend as little money as possible to put your ad in the minds of as many consumers as possible. In terms of cost-per-thousand impressions, billboards rank as the most cost efficient ad format, even when including digital advertising. According to the OAAA, billboards cost $3 to $6 per impression, the lowest of any ad format. Billboards help local advertisers reach consumers for 80% less cost than local TV ads and for 50% less than local radio advertising. Not only are billboards the most efficient advertising medium when it comes to cost, but they also excel at promoting consumer interaction and generating money from ads.

Your Local Community

Of course, as a local advertiser, you want people from the local community to be interested in your business. Billboard ads are cost-effective and reach a wide audience, but will that actually bring people to your store or website? The answer, in short, is yes. 89% of Americans drive private vehicles and drive roughly 200 miles per week, so a billboard ad is especially effective at reaching as many local consumers as possible. Additionally, 32% of consumers have visited a retailer they saw on a billboard later the same week, which means billboards will bring local consumers to your store, and fast. Other forms of out-of-home advertising shouldn’t be counted out either, as bus ads and street furniture ads, although they reach fewer consumers, are similarly effective.

Billboards are an excellent medium for attracting future customers to your local business. To begin making a stunning outdoor ad, check out BillboardsIn.com now to get started.
