For the past 40 years, Express Employment Professionals has been helping make the job hunt a positive experience.
Founded by Bob Funk and Bill Stoller—who is the current CEO—, Express has 38 offices in Florida and around 850 worldwide, including Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa. They work with both individuals with their job hunts, and also employers looking to hire, emphasizing a human-based service model.
Mike England, owner and president, said that when he opened in Treasure Coast, FL seven years ago, he heard that other recruiting and staffing firms in the area had reputations of pricing unfairly, having a lack of flexibility, slow reaction times, sending employers unqualified candidates, and lacking a “human touch.”
He took his experience from running a large sales division for 30 years and made an effort to provide something different to the staffing world, and he received positive feedback, being told that there was a difference.
“My staff and myself are deeply ingrained in the community at a number of levels and serve in a variety of capacities,” he said. “We receive many referrals from associates and companies. And sometimes we just spend time with them to assist in directing them to what they are trying to accomplish.
All of their offices are individually owned, meaning that the owners of those offices are in the same area as the employers they are assisting, and most of the pricing, terms, and servicing are determined on a local level.
Mike England, owner and president, said that many businesses come to Express thanks to their great reputation and staff, and that they cater to a wide array of jobs.
“With my staff of nine, we literally have people on the back of garbage trucks and in positions of authority,” he said. “Most recently we placed a cybersecurity executive with a local utility company.”
England also said that they focus on both assisting individuals looking for jobs or careers, and businesses who need staffing, noting that they have “a vibrant sales and education process to present local employers.” They have the ability to take a good chunk of the recruiting, vetting, and onboarding off of the plate of the employer.
Express is looking for “reputable companies, who treat their employees or contract workers safely, fairly and have opportunities for growth.” They encourage those who can be responsive to their requests for interviews, providing details about a job, and making a timely decision about candidates.
Regarding workers, they are looking for people to represent them well at the companies they are placed at. “We expect rules to be followed, for them to have good attendance and to ultimately make the customer satisfied with the service we have provided,” England said.
